Kanpur, 08 January: India is the world’s largest and oldest democracy. It is dwelling in our every vein, which started from Vaishali 600 years before Christ. Not only this, after independence, when elections were held in the country in 1952, women were also given the right to vote along with men, whereas in England women got this right later. Not only England, in many countries of the world women got the right to vote after India. In this way India is moving very ahead and in 2029 when ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Act’ will be implemented, the participation of women can reach 33 to 50 percent in the legislature. However, even today the participation of women in the legislature of India is more than in progressive countries, said Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in a conference organized by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association in Kanpur on Wednesday.
The conference of women members of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association India Region Zone 1 Uttar Pradesh Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly was held in Bithoor, Kanpur on Wednesday. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, as the chief guest in the conference, expressed his gratitude to the Speakers of the Legislative Assembly of both the states (Satish Mahana and Ritu Khanduri respectively) and said that this moment is joyous for me. I have a connection with both the states, because Uttar Pradesh is my karmabhoomi and Uttarakhand is my birthplace.
He said that Ritu Khanduri’s family background is also of dedication to the nation. Her family has wonderful traditions of experience and heritage.
Addressing the women MLAs, he said that work will make your journey in the legislature spectacular and memorable. Tenure is not important in the sense of how long you have been working, but what is important is how effectively you have left a mark. In terms of UP, you are leading a population of six to seven lakhs and in Uttarakhand, three and a half to four lakhs. This good fortune is available to only one in millions, so from the platform of the legislature, we also have to present such an example through our work that can become inspirational for others. Your presence in the legislature will be effective only when you will be able to raise issues related to the common people and the ground. Your words spoken on the platform of the legislature become a legacy for the times to come.
56 percent block pramukhs, 70 percent women district panchayat presidents
Chief Minister said that in progressive countries, the representation of women is not even 10 percent, whereas in UP the representation is 14 to 15 percent. In Uttarakhand, it is a little above 10 percent. Here, 56 percent women have won the block pramukh, 70 percent district panchayat presidents. The representation of women in local body elections, village heads is very good. They are also doing very good work. Women’s representation in the legislature will be effective when they take decisions with their own discretion and show sensitivity in the schemes related to the society. Today women are representing in every field. To go to the legislature, take a closer look at social life. No side is weak or bad, the perspective of looking at it matters a lot. Under the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, after 2029, women’s participation can reach from 33 to 50 percent from Gram Pradhan to the legislature.
Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly is known for innovation and new experiments
Chief Minister said that Uttar Pradesh is the largest assembly in the country. It is known for innovation and new experiments in the last two and a half to three years. UP Legislative Assembly has successfully implemented e-Vidhan and made it paperless. In parliamentary democracy, we can not only speak about these things but can also experience it. UP Legislative Assembly gave a platform to experts from many fields. Generally, people in the Vidhan Sabha are bound by party commitments, so common consensus cannot be formed, but when we sit in a group with advocates, engineers, doctors, science background or representatives of different parties, we rise above party commitments and think about society and the country.
Four out of 15 members in the country’s Constituent Assembly were from Uttar Pradesh
The Chief Minister said that UP has already been very important. Four out of 15 members in the country’s Constituent Assembly were from Uttar Pradesh (then UP and Uttarakhand were one). Four of these members were Kamla Chaudhary, Sucheta Kriplani, Begum Ejaz Rasool, Purnima Banerjee. These people played an important role by participating in the process of constitution making. Just like women run the house in an organized manner, women should also set an example through development by going to the Gram Panchayat, local bodies, Vidhan Sabha, Lok Sabha.
If we make a Gram Panchayat self-reliant, then the neighbouring villages will also learn
Chief Minister enumerated the works done in the direction of making the Gram Panchayat self-reliant in UP and said that this also created employment. A village can provide employment to at least five to seven people. If we make the Gram Panchayat self-reliant through Drone Didi, BC Sakhi etc. by making the women volunteer group aware, then the neighbouring villages will also learn. Make one or two areas an example in every assembly constituency. The beginning will be from one, but the example will be for everyone. If the government and society join, then we will be able to succeed in creating an ideal model.
