Facebook to unify its platforms Instagram and Whatsapp by adding its name

New Delhi, Aug.03: Social media giant plans to unify all its platforms -Instagram and Whatsapp by adding ‘from Facebook’ at the end in their name. This information was disseminated on Friday by the spokesperson of the company. He said that they want to be clear about the products and services that are part of Facebook. The new titles for ‘Instagram from Facebook’  and ‘Whatsapp from Facebook’ will be shown for both apps in Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook has already announced this unification plan. Many things are to be figured out before finalizing the plans and this would be long term plan according to him. It will be completed by 2020 or can be stretched beyond that. He is concerned with data encryption than anything else. Company also wants to serve the people who want to send their messages across these all platforms of social media.

This move has been propelled amidst probes and scrutiny by US Federal Trade Commission and Irish Data Protection Commission.  US FTC is in process of finding what prompted Facebook to acquire Instagram and Whatsapp. Irish Data Protection Commission has asked Facebook to provide sufficient explanation for and how of this move. It has recently agreed for $5 billion settlement for privacy violation with FTC.
