New Delhi, 28 September: Professor MS Swaminathan, known as the father of the Indian Green Revolution, passed away today in Chennai. Was 98 years old.
According to his family sources, Swaminath passed away today at 11:15 a.m. at his residence due to age-related ailments.
Swaminathan’s daughter, Soumya Swaminathan, is a former chief scientist of the World Health Organisation.
MS Swaminathan is credited with bringing record growth in grain production to the country in the 1960s and 1970s.
