Lucknow, 24 July: A female Afghan student at Lucknow University was suspended after she used a phoney social media persona to send improper images of an Indian student to her family members.

She allegedly built the false profile using a SIM card registered in one of her friends’ name.

Salma Faiz, the accused, is a researcher at the Department of Public Administration from Kabul, Afghanistan. She is accused of getting and exploiting a SIM card with an Aadhaar card for over a year.

The accused created a false ID on Instagram and reportedly transmitted offensive photographs of the victim to her family members using the SIM card registered under her friend’s name.

When the victim discovered this, she filed a complaint with the cyber cell. A thorough investigation was carried out, which led to the identification of Salma as the accused.

The conclusions of the investigation were communicated to the university administration.

Salma has been suspended from Lucknow University, according to Prof Rakesh Trivedi, the university’s Chief Proctor. Her hostel assignment was revoked, and she was forbidden from visiting the college grounds.

The accused has three days to react to the accusations. Failure to comply within the specified term will result in serious consequences, presuming she is unable to defend herself against the allegations.
