Lucknow, 12 January: The first shipment of Covid vaccine ‘Covishield’, developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University and developed by Serum Institute of India (SII), for vaccination against coronavirus reached the capital Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh’s Airport on Tuesday.
Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Jai Pratap Singh received the vaccine at the airport. The vaccine is housed in a storage center under the protection of the Central Police.
On this occasion, the Health Minister informed that one lakh sixty thousand vaccine has reached Lucknow in the first batch. It will be sent to the districts of Lucknow division for vaccination. He informed that the second batch of vaccine will arrive tomorrow.
Health Minister said that it is very delightful moment that first shipment of one lakh sixty thousand vaccines has reached in Lucknow. This vaccine has arrived in Lucknow by a special flight of IndiGo from Pune.
Minister Jai Pratap and Health Department officials were already at the airport to receive the vaccine. Later the Health Minister flagged the vaccine to the storage center.
Vaccination drive will start from January 16
Corona vaccination will start in Uttar Pradesh from January 16, which will run in several stages.
The Health Minister said that the first phase of vaccination is to be carried out among health workers. After that the police and corona workers will get vaccinated. In the third phase, people older than fifty years will be vaccinated. He informed that a total of 852 vaccination centers have been set up across the state.
Apart from this, a total of 18 centers have been set up across the state for safe storage of vaccine.
The minister informed that in a couple of days more quantity of vaccine will come, which will be kept in other storage centers of the state.
He informed that preparations for UP Corona vaccination have been completed. Vaccination has also been run for three times. Vaccination work will start from January 16.
The minister said that before Corona vaccination on January 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will communicate with 16 hospitals, including KGMU, in Lucknow. He informed that all the health centers will be monitored live during the vaccination.
