Kanpur, January 14: The entire Uttar Pradesh including the Ganga plains is in the grip of cold wave with mist and fog. But due to westerly winds the fog will weaken during the day in a day or two. However, it will definitely trouble people in the morning and evening.
The Meteorological Department says that due to westerly winds the minimum temperature remains around three to five degrees and the cold wave will continue in the coming days also.
Meteorologist of Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agricultural Technology, Dr Sunil Pandey said on Sunday that for the last several days, there has been a dense blanket of fog in the Ganga plains including Kanpur division and some parts of Central India, due to which there is severe weather in this area. It’s getting cold. This dense cover of haze has caused a sharp drop in day temperatures, denying the sun’s rays. This has led to cold days and even severe cold days in some parts of Uttar Pradesh. All this is happening due to western disturbance and westerly winds. The intensity of the fog is expected to reduce in the next 2-3 days, which will bring some relief during the day but cold wave conditions will persist for a few days.
He told that the maximum temperature in Kanpur was recorded at 14.0 and the minimum temperature was 3.6 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity in the morning was 97 percent and the relative humidity in the afternoon was 84 percent. The direction of the winds was north-west with an average speed of 1.4 km per hour.
According to the weather forecast, there is no possibility of rain due to clear sky for the next five days. There is a possibility of dense fog along with cold wave in the morning and night. The day will remain cold and the fog is likely to reduce in the afternoon due to northwesterly winds.
