Agra, 18 July: The Yamuna River in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, has reached its highest level in 45 years, resulting in floods near the Taj Mahal. The river level rose to 497.9 feet, above the “low-flood level” of 495 feet.
Floodwaters have wreaked havoc on the Taj Mahal’s garden and encroached on Itimad-ud-Daula’s mausoleum. Despite worries about other sites, the Archaeological Survey of India authorities declared that no major damage had occurred.
The floods sparked rescue efforts by the NDRF, police, and government, with over 500 individuals relocated from 100 impacted villages and metropolitan areas. Furthermore, more than 500 bighas of agriculture have been inundated by flood water, and some localities are experiencing power outages and shortages of critical commodities.
