Lucknow, March 29: The Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana, on the occasion of completing his three-year term, said on Saturday that a lot of changes have taken place in the Vidhan Sabha in the last three years. He said that the foundation of the new Vidhan Bhawan will be laid during the 18th Vidhan Sabha itself.
Satish Mahana counted his achievements of three years in a press conference today. Praising the changing scenario of the Vidhan Sabha, he said that not only the building has improved. Efforts have been made to improve the soul of the building i.e. the body. The Vidhan Sabha has been adjourned only twice during the assembly sessions in three years.
He said that whether it is the ruling party or the opposition, everyone was given suggestions. The MLAs were taught to come properly prepared and ask questions.
Mahana told that the ministers of the ruling party were advised by the bench to answer the questions properly. The questions of the members are related to the public. For this, the ruling party was also given suggestions.
Mahana said that the people who came to visit were given complete information about the Vidhan Sabha and its proceedings. A booklet was published about the Vidhan Sabha. This booklet is made available to the people coming here. So that they can know about the Vidhan Sabha.
He said that my only goal is that the UP Vidhan Sabha should be established in accordance with the dignity of the legislature. In this, we get the guidance of the Chief Minister and Prime Minister Modi. I have recently met the Prime Minister. Many changes have been made. If a bill is introduced, then anyone is free to participate in that debate. New members are encouraged. For the first time, MLAs are being congratulated on their birthdays during the session in the Vidhan Sabha.
On the question of the construction of the new Vidhan Sabha, the Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha said that it will be built soon. He said that it will take time to build the new Vidhan Bhawan.
On the question of when it will start, he said that the foundation of the new building will be laid during the 18th Vidhan Sabha term itself. On this occasion, Principal Secretary of Vidhan Sabha Pradeep Dubey and other officials were present.
