New Delhi, 13 July: Under a 75-day special campaign, people between the ages of 18 and 59 will receive free Covid-19 preventive shots at government vaccination centres. The program is anticipated to start on July 15.
The campaign’s primary goal is to increase the use of preventative measures. It is being staged as part of the government’s Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate India’s 75th anniversary of Independence.
Approximately 26 percent of the estimated 16 crore eligible population aged 60 and over, as well as healthcare and frontline workers, and fewer than one percent of the target group of 77 crore people in the 18?59 age range, have received the booster dose thus far.
Notably, this week, the union Health Ministry changed the suggestion of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization to shorten the time between the second and precautionary Covid vaccination injection for all recipients from nine to six months (NTAGI).
