Lucknow, 30 January: The Uttar Pradesh government is preparing for a grand welcome of an ancient pious river Ganga. From Bijnor to Ballia, the Yogi government will perform ‘Ganga Aarti’ in UP.
There will now be Ganga Aarti at about 1100 places in the state including Varanasi and Prayagraj.
For this, the Yogi government is going to build 1038 new Aarti platforms from Bijnor to Ballia. 1038 villages on both sides of the Ganga, led by the Namami Gange Department, have been selected as the new ‘Aarti Sthal’.
As per the plan, the process of construction of new Aarti sites in the villages situated on both sides of the five km radius of the Ganges from Bijnor to Ballia will be kicked off with the cooperation of the Tourism Department.
However, the new Aarti places will be operated on the basis of public participation. The Ganga Aarti will be organized every day on the Aarti platform.
The Ganga ghats will be developed in 1038 villages from Bijnor to Ballia and will be developed as a religious place. Instructions have also been given to construct charitable buildings in these villages located within five kilometers of the Ganges.
In December, in the meeting of Jal Shakti Department along with other department officials, instructions have been given to develop ancient and historical shrines and temples in these villages and develop them as tourist destinations.
A spokesperson of the state government said here on Saturday that with the ancient river Ganga entering Uttar Pradesh, this series of aarti starting from Bijnor will continue till the last village of UP on the banks of Ganga in Ballia.
“By linking Ganga Aarti with villages and towns, the Yogi government wants to make Ganga cleanliness campaign the biggest mass campaign. Through this campaign, the state government wants to further strengthen the attachment among the younger generation towards their culture and especially with the life-giving Ganges,” added Spokesperson.
62 new STPs will start soon
The spokesperson apprised that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is making efforts for Ganga cleanliness. The government has given more momentum to the Ganga cleanliness campaign. Sewage treatment plants (STPs) are going to start in 14 new districts soon.
He informed that 62 STPs under construction in different areas of the state will also be ready soon and will be connected with the cleanliness drive of Ganga as well as other rivers. According to Namami Gange Department, the capacity of 62 sewage treatment plants under construction will be 1522.16 MLD.
After the new treatment plant starts, the total number of STP-equipped districts will increase to 41 in UP. At present, there are a total of 104 STPs operating in Uttar Pradesh. Whose total capacity is 3298.84 MLD. After getting the new STP, the Ministry of Hydropower will be successful in stopping large number of drains and contaminated water falling in the Ganges.
