New Delhi, 28 September: India has been ranked 40th out of 132 economies in the Global Innovation Index-2023 published by the World Intellectual Property Organization.

It was ranked 81st in the Global Innovation Index (GII) for the last several years. India improved to 40th position in 2023.

According to NITI Aayog, innovation has played a leading role in the country’s fight against the crisis caused by the pandemic. This is implicit in the Prime Minister’s call for a self-reliant India.

The continuous improvement in GII rankings is due to the immense knowledge capital, vibrant start-up eco system and amazing work done by public and private research organizations.

It is noteworthy that GII assesses the social and economic changes caused by innovation around the world.

NITI Aayog is hosting the launch of GII 2023 on September 29 this year in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
