Jaunpur, April 05: The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) gathered vital information from Umme Salma, the first wife of the accused Ahmed Murtaza Abbasi, who severely injured two security personnel deployed at the Gorakhnath temple.

When a thorough investigation was started about the accused Ahmed Murtaza, many shocking revelations have been made. At the same time, his first wife is a resident of Jaunpur, so a team of ATS was camping here to interrogate her. On Tuesday, the ATS reached the accused’s in-laws’ house at Sabzi Mandi in Kotwali police station area and talked to the family.

Muzaffarul Haque, the father of the first wife of the accused, told that in the month of June 2019, he had married his daughter to Ahmed Murtaza. After a few days of marriage, her mother-in-law started harassing her, so on September 2019, she called the daughter back to her house. A few days later, Abbasi divorced his wife over the phone and told that we had an old relationship with the family. Murtaza’s father Munir Abbasi was our aunt’s son. That’s why we didn’t do any investigation before getting the daughter married. However, now we have nothing to do with that family. I am relieved that our kinship with that family had ended long ago. Otherwise I would have been ashamed of my community in my district.

At the same time, Murtaza’s first wife Umme Salma said that she was with him for about one and a half months. During this time there is no concrete information about him, as he used to stay in his office most of the time and after returning in the evening spent more time with his parents. We have nothing to do with him, so don’t bother me unnecessarily.

It has also been reported from sources that Murtaza had gone to Nepal on March 19 and had met one of his companions there. He escaped from Nepal jail and is involved in terrorist activities. So a team of ATS will also go to Nepal. The UP team is constantly in touch with the Nepal Police.

It may be noted that the intelligence department and investigative agencies, which came into action after attacking the security personnel guarding the Gorakhnath temple, are interrogating the accused Murtaza Abbasi.

During investigation, his foreign connection was found. Due to the fear of contact with terrorist organizations, ATS has started gathering information about Murtaza’s every whereabouts, his relatives and close relatives.
