New Delhi, 01 November: The Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue collection in September rose 16.6 per cent to Rs 1.52 lakh crore in October. For the eighth consecutive month, the GST collection has exceeded Rs 1.40 lakh crore. This is the second highest GST collection till date.
In the data released on Tuesday, the Finance Ministry said that the GST revenue collection in the month of October jumped 16.6 percent to Rs 1,51,718 crore (Rs 1.52 lakh crore). The GST collection has been Rs 10,000 crore more than the previous month’s Rs 1,47,686 crore. Earlier in April, GST collection had reached a record high of Rs 1.68 lakh crore, while in October last year this figure was more than Rs 1.30 lakh crore.
According to the data of the ministry, the gross GST collection in the month of October has been Rs 1,51,718 crore. The share of Central GST is Rs 26,039 crore, State GST Rs 33,396 crore and Integrated GST is Rs 81,778 crore (including Rs 37,297 crore collected on import of goods). Along with this, Rs 10,505 crore (including Rs 825 crore collected on import of goods) is included by way of cess. The figure of GST revenue collection has crossed Rs 1.40 lakh crore for the eighth consecutive month.
It is noteworthy that yesterday itself, the GST collection was expected to cross Rs 1.5 lakh crore in October. Earlier, Revenue Secretary Tarun Bajaj during an event last month had also expected the GST collection to cross Rs 1.5 lakh crore from October.
