Gujarat: 7 members of the same family committed suicide over financial crisis in Surat

Surat, 28 October: Seven members of a family committed suicide due to financial constraints. The dead include parents, a husband-wife, and three children, the police said.

According to the police, prima facie, six of them consumed poisonous substances, while one committed suicide by hanging himself. Senior police officers have also reached the spot and started an investigation. A suicide note has been found on the spot, in which there is mention of a financial crisis.

A heartbreaking incident came to light on Saturday morning in the C-2 block of Siddheshwar Apartment behind Vidyakunj School near Palanpur, Jakatnaka. When the door of the house of a furniture and building contractor named Manish Solanki did not open until late Saturday morning, the neighbours informed Manish’s relatives.

Then, the relatives immediately called the police control room and informed them about this. When the door was opened in the presence of police, seven dead bodies were lying here and there inside the house.

As per police, the primary information has been received about the consumption of poisonous substances by six members. One member was found hanging.

Adajan DCP Rakesh Barot said that a suicide note has been found in this case and that an investigation is being done to determine its authenticity. However, no person has been held responsible for the suicide note. He had a furniture contract-related business. It was told that about 30 to 40 people worked with him.

According to sources, a lot of Manish’s money was stuck with people in the market. Here, there was constant pressure to give money to workers and goods vendors regarding Diwali. The deceased include Manish Solanki and his wife Rita Solanki, Manish’s father Kanu and mother Shobhana, and Manish’s three children, Deeksha, Kavya, and Kushal.
