New Delhi, February 17: The Supreme Court has lifted the stay put by the Punjab and Haryana High Court on the law to reserve 75 percent jobs for local people.
The Apex Court said that the High Court should decide on the issue in 4 weeks. The government should not take punitive action on industries that do not implement reservation.
During the hearing, the Haryana government had said that the High Court had unilaterally stayed without hearing its side. On February 3, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had stayed the law to reserve 75 percent jobs for the people of the state.
Haryana has said in the petition filed in the Supreme Court that the High Court has unilaterally stayed without hearing its side. The petition was filed by the Faridabad Industries Association in the High Court.
In fact, on November 6, 2021, the Haryana government had issued a notification to give 75 percent reservation in jobs to local people, which has come into effect from January 15, 2022.
