Hathras, March 20: Assistant Professor Dr Rajneesh Kumar, accused of sexually exploiting girl students, was arrested by police and the Special Operation Group (SOG) from Prayagraj. He was running around for seven days in the High Court to get a stay on his arrest.
It is alleged that Dr Rajneesh was sexually exploiting college girls for the last five years.
The case is of Bagla Degree College of Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. It is alleged that the college’s Assistant Professor Dr Rajneesh Kumar has sexually exploited more than 30 girl students. The 50-year-old professor used to call the girl students to the office on the pretext of getting them passed and getting them a job and used to do obscene acts with them. He also used to make videos secretly. 65 pornographic videos have been found from the professor’s mobile. Most of the videos are of college girls.
He has also uploaded some videos on porn sites. The accused professor has been posted in Bagla Degree College for 20 years. He teaches geography.
SP Chiranjeev Nath Sinha told in a press conference at Police Lines that on March 6, a student had written a confidential letter to the State Women’s Commission. In it, she had written a detailed account of all the activities of Dr Rajneesh and also sent photos and videos. The Women’s Commission took cognizance of the student’s letter and ordered an investigation. After this, Hathras Gate Kotwali Police started the investigation and called the professor for questioning. His mobile was confiscated, but he had already deleted the videos and photos. When the police recovered the mobile data, 65 obscene videos were found. On March 13, the police registered a case under serious sections and started searching for the accused. The accused Rajneesh Kumar is a resident of village Javara of Mathura’s Mat tehsil. He absconded before the police could arrest him.
The SP said that several teams were deployed to arrest the accused. It was found that he was in Prayagraj. Police and SOG arrested him from Civil Lines police station area of โโPrayagraj on Thursday morning. He was trying to get a stay on his arrest from Allahabad High Court for the last seven days. He had also grown a beard to avoid arrest. Forensic investigation of the accused professor’s laptop and mobile will be done. Meanwhile, DIG Aligarh Range has announced a reward of Rs 25,000 to the arresting team.
