New Delhi, 22 October: The Union Home Ministry has extended the residence permit given to exiled Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen. For this, the writer has expressed gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday.

Taslima Nasreen has been living in India for the last two decades due to threats from Islamic fundamentalists in Bangladesh. Nasreen had requested Amit Shah through social media on Monday to extend her residence permit in India.

Expressing gratitude to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Taslima Nasreen shared a post on Instagram on Tuesday in which she used the folded hands emoji.

Earlier, she had also posted on Monday in which she expressed her concern on this issue and described India as her “second home”.

Taslima Nasreen wrote on Instagram on Monday, “Dear Amit Shah ji namaste. I live in India because I love this great country. It has been my second home for the last 20 years. But the Home Ministry is not extending my residence permit since July 22.”

She wrote, “I am very worried. I will be very grateful to you if you allow me to stay. Best wishes.”
