05 January: It proved costly to honor Kanpur’s history-sheeter Shahid Piccha, who was among the top ten criminals of the city.

As soon as the video of welcome with garlands went viral on social media, the police took major action on Friday.

Joint Police Commissioner Anand Prakash Tiwari has ordered action against the criminal by expelling him from the district on the basis of the video.

According to the police, Chamanganj resident Shahid Piccha is a history-sheeter and gangster of Chamanganj police station. Over 35 cases including murder, robbery, dacoity, attempt to murder and extortion are registered against him in many police stations. Shahid Piccha was sent to jail by the police after he was shot in a police encounter.

Police sources said that Shahid came out of jail on bail in December itself. Recently an Electronic Press Club organization had organized a program in Chamanganj. A retired IPS officer attended it as the chief guest. It is being told that after the departure of the IPS, the gangster was welcomed and the video went viral on social media.

Joint Police Commissioner Anand Prakash Tiwari took cognizance of the viral video on Friday.

He said that it is not right to honor criminals in this way. The organization that awarded the award is being investigated.

He told that on December 24 itself, Goonda Act was slapped against Shahid Piccha. Now an order has been rendered to expel him from the district.
