Kanpur, May 26: The scorching heat of the sun are wreaking havoc across Uttar Pradesh and North India and the temperature is crossing 44 degrees Celsius. People are getting restless in this scorching heat and are avoiding stepping out of their homes in the afternoon.
In such a situation, the question arises that how many degrees of temperature can a human bear. Generally, a temperature above 37 degrees harms the human body, but due to the special mechanism of homeostasis in the human body, a human can tolerate a temperature up to 42 degrees. These things were said by Dr S N Pandey, Meteorologist of Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture Technology, on Sunday.
He told that according to scientists, the normal temperature of the human body is 98.9 degrees Fahrenheit, which is equal to 37 degrees Celsius of the environment around you i.e. the outside temperature. According to science, humans are warm-blooded mammals that can bear temperatures up to 42 degrees Celsius. There is a special mechanism homeostasis in the human body which keeps humans safe even in this temperature. Temperatures higher than this can be harmful to the human body. According to the report of the medical journal Lancet, the outbreak of heat in India was extremely high in the eight years between 2000-04 and 2017-2021. Also, a 55 percent increase in deaths due to heat has been recorded during this period.
Muscles give up due to high temperature
The meteorologist said that according to health experts, if the mercury is 45 degrees, then problems like fainting, dizziness or panic due to complaints like low blood pressure are common complaints. On the other hand, if you stay for a long time in a temperature of 48 to 50 degrees or more, then the muscles can completely stop working which can even lead to death.
Problems start at 40 degrees
According to the meteorologist, as per a report of the London School of Hygiene, by 2050, deaths due to heat will increase by 257%. Science says that the human body can bear a temperature of 35 to 37 degrees without any problem. On the other hand, when this temperature reaches 40 degrees, then people start having problems. If the research done on this is to be believed, then it becomes very difficult for humans to tolerate a maximum temperature of 50 degrees.
