Lucknow, 23 November: A case of fake job distribution has come to the fore in the Income Tax Department office located here. The police arrested seven accused including the mastermind woman, who was running the racket. Besides, fake stamps of the Income Tax Department and many documents have also been recovered from them.
On Tuesday, this gang was distributing fake appointment letters to the many job aspirants in the canteen of the Income Tax Department.
Priyanka Mishra was arrested by the police of Hazratganj police station in the presence of Income Tax Department officials. On the complaint of Public Relations Officer of the department, Anurudh Chaudhary, a case of forgery is being registered.
Priyanka on her own conducted more than 100 interviews for the post of Inspector in the Income Tax Department and made lakhs of rupees from some unemployed. Priyanka came to Lucknow from Shahjahanpur, after studying lawShe is married and lives in Triveni Nagar.
At 3:30 pm, the gang members were distributing appointment letters to all the people sitting in the canteen of the Income Tax Department’s office. Seeing the outsiders in the canteen, the officials of the Income Tax Department asked them who they were and how they came inside.
Priyanka, who was present with the fraudsters, started giving evasive statements on the questions of the officials, after which the officials of Income Tax Department grew suspicious. The officers of the department caught the woman and six people. The Police reached the spot and interrogated the accused for two hours. During interrogation, it was revealed that these people were distributing fake appointment letters for jobs in the Income Tax Department.
The fraudsters were giving appointment letters of Tax Assistant and Income Tax Inspector to the unemployed, although there is no post of Tax Assistant in the department. The seal of the Principal Chief Commissioner was duly affixed on the appointment letter. On Tuesday too, she had called many candidates to the office of the Income Tax Department.
Initial inquiries have revealed that these people had collected ?10 to 15 lakh per unemployed in lieu of jobs.
According to sources, she used to come to the headquarters premises continuously for the last 20 days and used to interview the unemployed while sitting in the cafeteria.
According to the departmental source, in the recent days, an advertisement was published for recruitment to many posts in the sports quota. For this recruitment, the interview letter was issued from the office located in Gomtinagar. The physical screening of sports quota candidates was over there recently. Based on this, this gang started committing forgery. Fraudsters advertised this on free-job alert websites.
According to the sources of Income Tax Department, around 1:30 pm a young man reached there and asked about the interview going on inside. On getting suspicious, a security guard informed the higher authority and the entire matter was exposed.
Meanwhile, the name of an administrative officer of the IT Department is coming to the fore in this fake appointment game.
