The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is celebrating its 90th year on April 1. On this occasion, the program organized in Mumbai included addresses by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das.

Referring to the efforts made by his government in collaboration with the RBI, the Prime Minister said that if the intentions are right, the policies yield the right results. We left no stone unturned for the growth of the banking sector. The BJP government worked with a policy of recognition, resolution and recapitalization.

He said that the work done in the last 10 years is only a glimpse. We have to take the country far ahead and do a lot more.

The Prime Minister said that GDP growth depends on the balance and correlation of monetary and fiscal policies. The situation was critical on the 80th anniversary of RBI in 2014. Today India’s banking system is considered strong and stable.

Congratulating RBI on completing 90 years, the Prime Minister said that RBI as an institution is a witness to pre-independence and post-independence. Today, RBI is recognized all over the world because of its professionalism and commitment.
