Kanpur, 09 October: The C3I Hub of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has started a six-month residential cyber commando training (CCT) program in view of increasing cyber crimes.
In the first phase, 38 officers from central and state police forces are participating in intensive training. This training will strengthen national security in the digital age and these highly trained professionals will play an important role in securing India’s cyber ecosystem and responding to potential threats.
IIT Kanpur Acting Director Prof Amalendu Chandra said on Wednesday that this is a special six-month residential course designed to equip the participants with cutting-edge skills in cyber security. This initiative is the result of collaboration between the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and the Indian Cyber ​​Crime Coordination Center (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The Cyber ​​Commando Training Program is an important step in India’s efforts to protect its digital infrastructure.
Chandra apprised that this collaboration between C3iHub, I4C and the Union Home Ministry reflects our shared commitment to develop a highly skilled workforce, capable of responding to the growing complexity of cyber threats facing the country. Under this, a special unit of trained cyber commandos will be established within the States/Union Territories (UTs) and Central Police Organizations (CPOs) to deal with the growing threats in the country’s cyber security landscape. These trained cyber commandos will assist the States/UTs and central agencies in protecting the digital space.
Prof Sandeep K. Shukla, Program Director, C3iHub at IIT Kanpur, said that this training program is not just about imparting knowledge, but it is about building a resilient and proactive cyber security infrastructure for India. These professionals will play a vital role from conducting security assessments to responding to cyber incidents, ensuring that our institutions are well protected.
