Kanpur, June 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi always emphasizes that the farmer of the country should progress through modern technology. To make this dream come true, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has made such a drone, which will benefit the farmers tremendously. This drone will not only monitor the crops but will also spray chemical drugs on 30 hectare area in eight hours. It will also be able to easily spray chemical on horticultural plants up to 10 meters height.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious scheme Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization has also been implemented in Kanpur. To fulfill the objectives of the scheme, the IIT Kanpur has manufactured drones.

IIT, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, did a live broadcast of this drone on Tuesday under the supervision of Divisional Commissioner Rajasekhar in the launch of Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agricultural Technology (CSA). Drone sprayed nano urea fertilizer and IIT expert Subramaniam Sadrla told the farmers and representatives of Farmer Producer Organization about the technology of drone and the precautions and utility to be taken in its use.

He said that at present a price of Rs 10 lakh has been fixed including the accompanying equipment of the drone. IIT Kanpur will manufacture drones with the help of start-up companies.

โ€œBy spraying agricultural defense chemicals and fertilizers in 30 hectares in eight hours through drones, income can be increased by reducing the cost by covering more area with fewer chemicals. With the use of this new technology, it will be easy to control pests/diseases in vegetables, crops and horticultural crops up to a height of 10 metersโ€, he said.

Divisional Commissioner Raj Shekhar informed that the dreams of the Prime Minister will be realized through the use of drones through Farmer Producer Organizations in the field of agriculture.

He appealed to play a leading role by promoting drones among the representatives of the Farmer Producer Organizations of the Mandal. He also suggested to the experts of IIT Kanpur to increase the battery capacity of the drone and to set up a service center for the drone.

During this, Dr DR Singh, Vice Chancellor of CSA, Mahendra Bahadur Singh, President of Farmer and Systematic Farmer Producer Company, Kanpur and representatives of other Farmer Producer Organizations, Joint Agriculture Director Kanpur Circle DK Singh, Deputy Agriculture Director, Kanpur Nagar Chaudhary Arun Kumar, Additional Agriculture Director (Extension) Dr AK Singh was present on the occasion.
