Director says
Director of the IIT Kanpur Prof Abhay Karandikar said that our primary objective with the land tester tool is to provide relief to our farmers in terms of testing the health of their soil. This is a task which is usually very difficult for them as they have to depend on laboratories away from home. We are proud to share that now that the device has been launched as a product, it will be a huge boon for our farmers to reduce the hassle of testing their soil.
This is how the device will work
The Director informed that this is a first of its kind new device which is capable of detecting soil health in just 90 seconds through an embedded mobile application. It will help farmers to achieve soil health standards of agricultural fields along with recommended dosage of fertilizers without going to the laboratory.
โThe device is based on Near Infrared Spectroscopy technology, which provides real-time soil analysis reports on a smartphone with an embedded mobile application named GeoParikshak, available on Google Play Store,โ Director added.
