Lucknow, 21 November: Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav has claimed that the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) government has no concern for the health and life of the general public. The illegal liquor business in the state is running under the protection of state power.

So far, many people have lost their lives by consuming poisonous liquor. The spirits of liquor mafias have increased so much that they are openly smuggling and selling illicit liquor, defying government regulations.
Akhilesh said that the truth is that smuggling of liquor and making and selling spurious liquor is being done illegally in the information of Police and Excise Department in the state.
“In Phulpur Kotwali area, seven people of Imlia village died due to taking liquor from the contract of indigenous liquor, the condition of many villagers is critical. In Kothi police station area of Barabanki, the BJP leader beat up the salesmen for not giving the borrowed liquor. Many BJP leaders have taken contracts. They also appear to be quick to earn goods. 12 people have died in Barabanki,” Yadav said.
He said that 12 people died in Hapur Kotwali area after drinking poisonous liquor. There were 64 deaths in Saharanpur while 2 people died in Firozabad. 6 people died after drinking poisonous liquor in Phulpur area of Prayagraj. There have also been deaths in Etawah, Rampur, Jalaun. This series of deaths by drinking illicit poisonous liquor continues unabated. There have been many traumatic events before. But, no one learns from them.
The SP president said that the extent of insensitivity of the BJP government is that it has not yet become serious in trying to crackdown on fake liquor businessmen. This government has not taken concrete steps towards ending the fake liquor syndicate.
“The sale of poisonous liquor is a heinous crime on government contracts of domestic liquor under excise and police departments. The government should also investigate departmental involvement in this and take stern action,” concluded SP president.
