In 7th phase polls: Voting on 54 seats in 9 districts on March 7, campaigning to end on Saturday evening

Lucknow, March 04: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has intensified the preparations for the seventh ie the last phase of the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Leaders of various political parties, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have heated up the election atmosphere in the assembly constituencies of this phase through rallies, public meetings and roadshows. The campaigning for the seventh phase will end on Saturday evening.

The seventh phase of polling is to be held on March 7 from 7 am to 6 pm in 54 seats in nine districts of the state. Out of total 54 assembly seats, 11 seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 02 seats for Scheduled Tribes. A total of 613 candidates are in the fray in this phase.

Of these, maximum 25 candidates are in Jaunpur seat and minimum six candidates are in Shivpur and Pindra seats of Varanasi. There are total 2, 05, 51,521 (two crore five lakh fifty one thousand five hundred twenty one) voters. This includes 1, 09, 01,009 male, 96, 49,495 female and 1017 third gender voters.

State Chief Electoral Officer Ajay Kumar Shukla said on Friday that for the seventh phase of elections, from March 5, ie Saturday, from 6 pm onwards, campaigning by public representatives will be effectively stopped and this ban will be done in the seventh phase. It will remain in effect till the end of the voting. Instructions have been given for necessary preparations and arrangements to conduct this phase of polling in a free, fair, transparent and safe manner.

The seventh phase of voting is going on in 54 Vidhan Sabhas of Azamgarh, Mau, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Bhadohi and Sonbhadra.

Atraulia, Gopalpur, Sagadi, Mubarakpur, Azamgarh, Nizamabad, Phulpur-Powai, Didarganj, Lalganj (SC), Mehnagar (SC), Madhuban, Ghosi, Muhammadabad-Gohna (SC), Mau, Badlapur, 54 assembly seats in the seventh phase. Shahganj, Jaunpur, Malhni, Mungra Badshahpur, Machhlishahr (SC), Madiyahu, Jafrabad, Kerakat (SC), Jakhanian (SC), Saidpur (SC), Ghazipur, Jangipur, Jahurabad, Mohammadabad, Zamania, Mughalsarai, Sakaldiha, Syedraja, Chakia (SC), Pindra, Ajra (SC), Shivpur, Rohaniya, Varanasi North, Varanasi South, Varanasi Cantt, Sewapuri, Bhadohi, Gyanpur, Aurai (SC), Chhanabe (SC), Mirzapur, Majhwan, Chunar, Madihan, Ghoraval, Robertsganj, Obra (ST) and Duddhi (ST).
