Dehradun, 10 June: Former IAS Rakesh Kumar resigned from the post of Chairman of the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission today.
Meanwhile, he may have given the reason for his resignation as personal and family, but the resignation of Rakesh Kumar, who worked to save the image and prestige of the Public Service Commission in adverse circumstances, is being seen as a major loss in the interest of the state because his image has been that of an honest and hardworking officer.
Rakesh Kumar took over this post on December 24, 2021, and his tenure was 6 years, in which a long time was still left.
In his short tenure, he selected 4000 candidates through various 32 recruitment examinations in the Public Service Commission. When the paper leak was busted in the recruitment of the Uttarakhand Subordinate Selection Service Commission, the government service selection institutions of Uttarakhand faced a very difficult time.
Expressing confidence in Rakesh Kumar, who is included in the list of very reliable, hardworking, and honest officers of the Dhami Government of Uttarakhand, the Public Service Commission is responsible for completing all the recruitments through the Subordinate Service Commission, whose calendar has been issued.
But when the case of rigging came to the fore in the Lekhpal Recruitment Examination and Engineer Recruitment Examinations conducted by the Public Service Commission for their impeccability, the question arose in front of the state as to how to conduct these recruitments fairly.
In such difficult times, with his understanding, Dr. Rakesh Kumar not only took the responsibility of changing all the arrangements of the Public Service Commission on his shoulders, but it was also shown to be completed.
Various reforms were made in the commission, from the setting up of police and intelligence units in the commission premises to the double paper system, due to which radical changes were seen.
