Ballia, 30 Aug: A 15-year-old girl was reportedly abducted and raped for three months by a man in this city, according to authorities on Wednesday.
They claimed the girl was rescued from Deoria on August 26 and the accused, a 27-year-old man, was apprehended on Tuesday night.
On May 29, the youngster accompanied her mother to court in Ballia’s Kotwali neighborhood. According to authorities, she was seduced and abducted by Markandeya Yadav alias Sonu, who is from the same village as the victim. On August 2, last year, a case was lodged against the accused under Section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) based on the girl’s mother’s complaint.
The girl told authorities that Yadav kidnapped her and transported her to Deoria, where he raped her for about three months.
Based on the girl’s testimony, police have charged her with sections 366 (abducting or forcing a woman to marry) and 376 (rape) of the IPC, as well as relevant portions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
