Attari / Lahore, October 24: India and Pakistan signed a pact on the Kartarpur corridor on Thursday. After this, the inauguration of this project has paved the way for the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

It is to be noted that the delegation from India and Pakistan reached the zero line in the morning and signed the agreement. The Indian delegation was headed by Joint Secretary Internal Security SCL Das in the Ministry of Home Affairs, while the Pakistani delegation was headed by Mohammad Faisal, a spokesman for the Ministry of External Affairs. After reaching the Zero line, Das and Faisal shook hands with each other and subsequently signed the agreement.

To go through this corridor, pilgrims from both neighboring countries will not need a visa, instead they only have to take a permit, but Pakistan will charge US $ 20 as service fee from Indian pilgrims. Although India requested Pakistan to remove this fee, Pakistan did not listen.

After the signing of the agreement, Pakistan State Department spokesman Mohammad Faisal said that the agreement was reached following the initiative of Prime Minister Imran Khan. However, this task was very difficult and many rounds of negotiations took place for this. Many obstacles also arose during this. He also said that the project will be inaugurated on November 9.

Under the agreement, the corridor will be open seven days a week from morning to evening. Pilgrims would come in the day and return in the evening. Faisal said that through this corridor, five thousand devotees will move every day. The pilgrims will not need to get a visa, but will have to keep a passport which will not be stamped, but will be scanned. The two sides must hand over the list of pilgrims to each other ten days before the visit. Local devotees will also use this corridor which will be issued nearby. The first batch of pilgrims will arrive on November 9. It is noteworthy that this corridor connects Dera Baba Nanak Gurdwara in Punjab to Darbar Sahib Kartarpur
