Delhi, 12 June: India announced that two of its nationals who were recruited by the Russian Army have been killed in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine on Tuesday. This brings the total number of Indian deaths in the conflict to four. The Ministry of External Affairs has strongly condemned these deaths and has demanded the immediate release and return of all Indian nationals working with the Russian Army.

They have also expressed their concern over the recruitment of Indian nationals by Russia, stating that it goes against their partnership.

The MEA has also reached out to Russian authorities for early repatriation of the mortal remains of the deceased and has offered their deepest condolences to their families.

This statement comes after reports of 200 Indian nationals being recruited as security helpers in the Russian military and 10 Indians have already been released and repatriated. Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra also attended the Russian National Day reception at the Russian embassy earlier that day.
