India to get its 1st Night Safari Park from Lucknow

Lucknow, November 19; Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has decided that in December 2026, Uttar Pradesh will gift the country its first night safari. This night safari being developed in the capital Lucknow will be a new exciting center for nature lovers of the country and the world. This will be the fifth night safari in the world.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the plan of the proposed Kukrail Night Safari Park and Wildlife Center (Zoo) in a high-level meeting held at his official residence on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister, while setting a target for the officials, said that its construction work should be completed by June 2026 at all costs. Proper arrangements should be started to bring wildlife for the night safari and zoo. A sustainable model should be developed for the economic system of night safari and zoo. Also, greenery should be developed in 72 percent of the area and solar energy projects should also be given place here.

Night Safari is an ambitious project of the state government

Chief Minister Yogi said that the Night Safari project is an ambitious project of the state government. Permission has been obtained from the Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi for its construction. In December 2026, the country will get the gift of the first night safari in the country’s largest state Uttar Pradesh. The construction of night and day safari will be done in a phased manner. It will be spread over more than 900 acres in Lucknow.

Safari will also attract foreign tourists

The Chief Minister said that after the construction of Kukrail Night Safari, this project will also attract foreign tourists as a result of coming on the international tourism map. Kukrail Night Safari project will also be linked to other tourist places in Lucknow. 72 percent area of ​​​​Night Safari will be developed in greenery.

The Chief Minister said that the process of marking animals, bringing them here and quarantine will also be started in a phased manner. Eco tourism zone will also be developed under the Kukrail Night Safari project. He said that solar energy projects should be given space. He directed that there should be proper arrangements for quarantine center, veterinary hospital, post operation and operation theater. There should also be facilities of cafeteria, 7D theater, auditorium, parking etc.

He said that under the adventure zone, superman zipline, archery zip line, paddle boat, sky roller, fountain, jungle animal theme for kids activity, sky cycle etc. should be developed. Day safari will be expanded in the second phase.

State government’s Forest Minister (Independent Charge) Dr. Arun Kumar Saxena, officials of the administration and forest department were present in the meeting.

Night-day safari will have this feature:-

  1. Areas developed on the theme of Indian Walking Trail, Indian Foothill, Indian Wetland, Arid India and African Wetland will be the main attractions in the night safari area.
  2. 5.5 km tramway and 1.92 km for tourists to visit the night safari park. will be done through pathway
  3. Mainly Asiatic Lion, Gharial, Bengal Tiger, Flying Squirrel, Leopard, Hyena etc. will be the main attractions in the night safari.
  4. Construction of world class wildlife hospital and rescue center is also proposed under Kukrail Night Safari project.
  5. A total of 63 enclosures will be built in the zoo to be established in Kukrail forest area.
  6. Sarus crane, snake, deer, Himalayan bear, South African giraffe, African lion and chimpanzee will be the main attractions in the zoo
  7. The zoo will be developed on theme areas named African Savanna, Incredible India, Engineered Wetland.
