Kanpur, 05 February: The Police arrested Shubham Malviya, accused of sexually harassing his colleague engineer at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, late on Tuesday night.
Giving information about the case, ACP Abhishek Pandey said on Wednesday that the police went to Indore in search of the accused, but the scoundrel was hiding in the house of his close friend in Kanpur. Now on Wednesday, he will be produced before the court and sent to jail.
ACP told that The victim girl, who hails from Northeast India, works as an engineer in a project related to cyber security at the IIT. In this project, the manager Shubham Malviya, who hails from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and the girl became close. Both exchanged mobile numbers and then both decided to get married, promising to live and die together. Meanwhile, the accused also had sexual relations with the victim several times.
Pandey further apprised that when the girl put pressure on him to marry, the accused abused her in casteist terms and denied to marry her and drove her away. Hurt by this incident, the victim had lodged a case of assault, caste-specific abuses and rape on the pretext of marriage in Kalyanpur police station on January 26. In search of the accused, the police raided places ranging from a flat in Naramau, Kanpur to Indore.
Kalyanpur ACP Abhishek Pandey said on Wednesday that the accused Shubham Malviya has been arrested from the house of his close friend in Kanpur on Tuesday night. He will be produced before the court on Wednesday and sent to jail.
