IPS daughter dies under suspicious circumstances in Lucknow Law University

Lucknow, 1 September: A student died under suspicious circumstances on Sunday in the girls hostel of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, police said.

The student’s father is an IPS and posted as IG in the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Delhi. After the post-mortem on Sunday morning, the family took the body to Delhi.

Anika Rastogi, 21-year-old daughter of IPS Santosh Rastogi, originally from Noida, was a third year BA LLB (Hons) student from Lohia University. She lived in room number 124 of the girls hostel of the university.

Ashiana Inspector Chhatrapal Singh said that Anika had a roommate. When the roommate reached the room at around night, the door was locked from inside. She informed the university administration. On getting the information, the administration people also reached the spot. When they broke the door and reached the room, Anika was lying unconscious on the floor. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared her dead.

Meanwhile, police commissioner and other senior officials reached the spot late at night. Forensic team also investigated. The family took the body away after post mortem on Sunday. Police station in-charge says that the matter is being investigated.
