Lucknow, 01 November: Minister of State (Independent charge) Social Welfare Asim Arun on Tuesday issued suspension orders of Jaunpur Social Welfare Officer Sunil Kumar Singh and Dy Director, Varanasi KL Gupta on the charges of showing lackadaisical approach in the administrative work.
The minister took part in Badlapur Mahotsava in Jaunpur today. On the occasion 381 couples were tying knot in a mass marriage ceremony. Under the mass marriage scheme, Rs 35,000 is directly credited in the account of newlywed and for this marriage certificate is required. In the past it came to the fore due to delay in issuing certificates, payment was held up. To do away with this system, minister Arun had issued order to issue certificate on the venue of marriage ceremony.
Both officers neither issued marriage certificates during the programme nor made any effort to this effect. Despite the instructions issued to stamp out corruption, both officers failed to do so, as a result they got the axe for showing sloppiness in their works.
