Jhansi, 29 December: After waiting for a long time, Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has issued a notification saying now Jhansi Railway Station will be known as Veerangana Lakshmibai Railway Station.

Significantly, for a long time there was a constant demand that the name of Jhansi railway station should be changed to Veerangana Laxmi Bai railway station. For this, Prabhat Jha, a well-known Rajya Sabha MP and columnist, first raised the demand in 2019. After this, Jhansi, Lalitpur MP Anurag Sharma raised this matter in Parliament and after that many MPs wrote letters supporting him.

Not only had this, Hargobind Kushwaha, Vice President of Buddhist Research Institute, also wrote a letter supporting the renaming of Jhansi station after Veerangana Maharani Laxmibai.

The name of Jhansi railway station has been changed to Veerangana Laxmibai railway station in a letter issued by Nitin Ramesh Gaukarn, Principal Secretary, Public Works Department, on behalf of the government.

Now this name itself will be effective in conveying the bravery of the Queen to the people. As soon as people see the name of the railway station in the name of Veerangana Maharani Laxmibai, they will immediately remember the scene that the flame of revolution for the independence of eighteen hundred fifty seven would be ignited from this.

Previously, in a similar move, Yogi Adityanath government renamed Faizabad as Ayodhya, Allahabad as Prayagraj and Mugalsarai railway station as Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhaya railway station.
