Jammu, March 27: The Amarnath Yatra will start from June 30 after two years gap due to various Covid-19 restrictions. This decision taken in the meeting of Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board on Sunday was announced by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Manoj Sinha.
In the meeting of Shrine Board chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, it was decided that this time Amarnath Yatra will begin from June 30 and will end on the day of Raksha Bandhan as per tradition. This year devotees will be able to see ‘Baba Barfani’ for about 43 days.
Apart from the preparations for the yatra, various issues were also discussed in the meeting. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said in the meeting that during the yatra, the rules of Covid will be strictly followed.
Announcing the launch of registration of pilgrims for the Yatra through online process from April, the Shrine Board said that the Radio frequency Identification (RFID) based tracking of the movement of pilgrims will be done in the shrine in the Himalayan region of South Kashmir. Due to the Corona epidemic, Shri Amarnath Shrine Board had kept the Yatra closed for the devotees for the last two years. However, the worship of Baba Amarnath was continued with Vedic chanting in the holy cave.
