Kanpur, August 12: The police team of Gwal Toli police station arrested a Muslim cleric accused of raping a minor girl on August 10. Legal action was taken against him and he was produced in the court on Monday and sent to jail.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central Zone Dinesh Tripathi said that the arrested accused is Maulana Mukhtar alias Maulana Chacha, resident of Gwal Toli Maqbara. A named case was registered against him in Gwal Toli police station on August 11 under Section 65 (2) Indian Justice Code and 5 LM / 6 POCSO Act. After which the accused was absconding.
Tripathi further said that manhunt was carried out to nab the accused on the instructions of the Police Commissioner, the team of Gwal Toli Police Station Incharge Inspector Praveen Kumar arrested him on the tip off of the informer and after taking legal action against him, he was produced in the court and sent to jail.
