Kanpur, 4 July: Luck finally ran out for a Pakistani national overstaying in India for too long, and the law caught up him, when a neighbour moved court against him.
One Alam Chand, a Pakistani national, arrived to Kanpur on a temporary visa in 1990 and since then resided here with his family. Despite Chand’s assertion that he got Indian citizenship in 2013, authorities indicated the case will be probed.
Alok Kumar filed a case against Alam Chand, claiming that Chand unlawfully got Indian identification documents such as PAN and Aadhaar and stayed on. Chand’s son is in the Indian Air Force, while his other son works in education department. Alok Kumar stated that he had notified the police multiple times but that no action had been done.
Following that, he petitioned the court for the registration of an FIR. The court took note of the complaint and directed the police to conduct an investigation. During the preliminary inquiry, the police found that all of the charges were genuine.
Following the court’s order, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South, Manish Sonkar, stated that the case of a Pakistani national concealing and committing fraud had come to his attention. “The police have launched an inquiry into this fiasco. Other investigating authorities have been notified of the situation, and additional action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry, he stated.
