Kanpur police sends man’s half burnt body for autopsy to probe cause of death

Kanpur, April 11: A bizarre incident came to light on Friday when the Kanpur police has to remove the body of a man from the burning pyre after the complaint of his wife who alleged that her husband was murdered, police informed.

Meanwhile, resentment broke out among the people present at Siddhnath Ghat in the Kanpur on Friday when the police reached the ghat for the possession of the body to probe the cause of the death. After this, the body was taken into custody and sent for post-mortem.

Sohan Lal Dwivedi (32), who lived in Sanigwan of Chakeri police station area, lived with his wife Neelam and three daughters. He was an electrician by profession. His younger brother Mohan alias Gyani also lives with him in the house.

Neelam told police that a few days ago she had gone to her maternal home in Bihar with her three children. On Wednesday, she got information from brother-in-law Gyanu that her husband had died. On asking the reason of the death, he said that just come quickly. On hearing the news of her husband’s death, Neelam reached her house in Sanigawan late Thursday night with her brother Pradeep.

Neelam said that my husband has not died but has been murdered as the blood was flowing out from his head. But she alleged that the family members did not listen to her and on Friday morning, they took the body to Siddhnath Ghat in Jajmau and started preparing for the cremation.

She further told that on the other hand, she reached the police station with her brother and gave all the information about the incident to the police. The police reached Siddhnath Ghat in a hurry, but by then the deceased Sohan’s younger brother Gyanu had set fire to the pyre. The police poured water on the burning pyre and took the body in their custody and sent it for post-mortem.

Brother Gyanu Dwivedi said that on Thursday night, brother returned home after finishing his work. He ate food and went to sleep in his room. In the morning, when he did not wake up for a long time, an attempt was made to wake him up but he did not wake up, then we informed sister in law as well as other relatives about it.

Assistant Police Commissioner Chakeri Sumit Ramteke said that the deceased’s wife had suspected murder. Due to which the police reached Siddhnath Ghat, extinguished the pyre and sent the body for postmortem. Further legal action will be taken after the report comes.
