Kanpur: SIT to start arresting the accused of 1984 Sikh riots soon

Kanpur, January 19: A new twist has come in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) committee probing the 1984 Sikh riots in Kanpur. The SIT team is soon going to arrest the accused involved in the Sikh riots. There are also some such accused, who have either died or they are of old age. The report of such accused has been sent to the higher authorities after imposing it with the government.

In this case, 1984 riots victim Avtar Singh was talked to, and then he justified the investigation by the SIT team.

The victim told that in the 1984 riots 07 people of his family were killed and the house shop was burnt by all the rioters. He said that this day was awaited for a long time. The accused should be punished.

The SIT DIG Balendu Bhushan told that there are some such accused. The report of such accused who have become old or have died has been submitted before the higher authorities. In the entire case, 19 accused have died. In the 1984 riots case, 70 accused are to be arrested, for which this proceedings will be started soon.
