Kerala gets richer by more than 10,000 jobs as Modi showers infra projects

Kochi, 17 January: Four thousand direct jobs and it’s three-fold as indirect jobs. This is what Prime Minister Narendra Modi showered on the people of Kerala after his two-day whirlwind visit to the State on Wednesday.

The Prime minister dedicated to the nation India?s biggest Dry Dock facility where giant vessels including aircraft carriers and super bulk vessels weighing 70,000 tons could be repaired and maintained. It will provide two thousand direct jobs and nearly 12,000 indirect jobs.

Modi also commissioned a ship repairing facility built at a cost of Rs 970 crore and a Rs 1,236 crore LPG terminal. These are expected to give a facelift to the Queen of Arabian Sea which has been stagnating sans development for the last many years.

The Prime Minister disclosed that the last ten years of BJP rule at the Centre liberated 25 crore people from the shackles of poverty.

“The process to elevate crores from the fetters of poverty are underway across the country. Developmental initiatives like speeding up the infrastructure development works would result in more and more people becoming prosperous and happy,” said Modi.

“We are on our way to retrieve our position as the country with the highest global Gross Domestic Product. Bharat will soon emerge as the Centre of global trade. We will be rated as the global Maritime Power, thanks to the projects which have been dedicated to the nation as well as the fast works progressing under the Sagar Mala Schemes,” said Modi.

He also said that the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Samapd Yojana (a scheme to bring about the Blue Revolution through sustainable and responsible development of the fisheries sector in the country), has revolutionized the coastal economy.

“It has helped not only the small scale fishermen but those engaged in deep sea fishing,” said Modi. The fishermen community can make use of the Kisan Credit Card for availing loans.

The Prime Minister said that fish production and export of seafood have shown a steep hike during the last five years.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister worshipped at the Lord Krishna Temple at Guruvayur and the Lord Rama Temple at Thrippayar.

He attended the marriage of Bhagya, daughter of actor Suresh Gopi and four other couples and blessed them. Before emplaning from Kochi, Modi addressed the BJP’s Shakti Kendra in charges numbering 7,000 and complimented them for the good work they were doing as Karyakarthas.
