New Delhi, 20 August: Resident doctors across the country are on strike in protest against the rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. However, there is a dilemma among the doctors about ending the strike.
On Tuesday, the resident doctors of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital decided to withdraw the strike but after some time they decided to continue the strike. They have been on strike for nine days in protest against the alleged rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata. Due to this, OPD and other health services in the hospital are affected. People are facing a lot of trouble.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has also called an important meeting on Tuesday evening.In a statement issued on Tuesday morning, Ram Manohar Lohia Resident Doctors Association said that the ministry has also resolved to tighten security in all the hospitals of the central government and issue advisory to the state governments.
The doctors said that although they have agreed to postpone their strike, they will continue to advocate for justice in the RG Kar case.
It is noteworthy that the Supreme Court on Tuesday constituted a 10-member task force to prepare a national protocol to ensure safety and facilities for doctors during the hearing of the case of rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata. Along with this, the Supreme Court appealed to the striking doctors to end the strike.
