Lucknow/Hapur, 20 Sept: Lawyers in Lucknow and Hapur boycotted court on Wednesday in protest over an alleged lathicharge on counsel in Hapur last month.
Despite the fact that the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council called off its strike on the subject on September 14 after meeting with the chief secretary here, the Lucknow Bar Association opted to continue their walkout, and attorneys in Ghaziabad joined them on Monday.
The Lucknow Bar Association’s general body meeting on Tuesday resolved to suspend judicial activity till September 21 and then deliberate the next course of action, according to its general secretary Kuldeep Narain.
He stated that there was dissatisfaction among attorneys since no acceptable action was taken against the police officials engaged in the Hapur event. “We are with the Hapur lawyers. The strike will continue until their demands are satisfied,? according to Narain.
After the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council called off its strike in response to the event, the Uttar Pradesh Police transferred three employees, including Hapur’s additional superintendent of police, on September 15.
The government directed the transfer of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mukesh Chandra Verma, Circle Officer (City) Ashok Kumar Sisodhiya, and Hapur Nagar SHO Satendra Prakash Singh out of the district, according to Superintendent of Police (Hapur) Abhishek Verma.

According to the secretary of the Hapur Bar Association, Narendra Sharma, the attorneys in Hapur have urged that the district magistrate and the superintendent of police be removed and the guilty cops be suspended.
Lawyers in Gorakhpur went on strike on Tuesday, but they returned to work on Wednesday, according to Manoj Pandey, head of the Civil Court Lawyers’ Association. Gorakhpur’s attorneys have been on strike since August 30. The government of Uttar Pradesh has formed a three-member committee to draft an advocate protection bill. The group is chaired by the principal secretary of law, according to an official release.
