LDA kicks off demolition drive at Akbarnagar to vacate the land of Kukrail river

Lucknow, 10 June: To fulfill Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s resolve to vacate the land of Kukrail river, the LDA team reached Akbarnagar II at 7 am on Monday. As soon as the LDA team arrived, the entire area was barricaded and sealed. Within no time, five companies of PAC and three companies of RAF were deployed at every nook and corner.

From 7 am in the morning, ten JCBs and four Pokland were deployed by LDA for the demolition of illegally constructed houses, madrassas and religious places in Akbar Nagar II. In the first cycle, around a hundred houses are being demolished.

At the same time, the action of demolition of around twelve hundred houses is to be ensured on the spot. LDA Vice Chairman Indramani Tripathi, who reached the spot, said that on the instructions of the Supreme Court and High Court, demolition action is to be taken in Akbar Nagar I and II. It was stopped till the elections; work on demolition of Akbar Nagar has started as soon as the elections are over. Along with this, the program of distribution of allotment letters of Prime Minister’s residence to the displaced people is also going on.

Some people were seen picking up goods in Akbar Nagar, who were removed from the spot after being given an allotment. After the demolition, the entire team of the Municipal Corporation remained active in removing the debris. City Commissioner Inderjit Singh and many officials of Lucknow Police have reached Akbar Nagar.
