New Delhi, May 13: Voting was completed peacefully today on 96 Lok Sabha seats in 10 states during fourth phase of general elections. In this phase, the voting percentage till 8 pm was 63.27 percent. With this, voting was completed in 23 states and 379 seats.
Apart from this, the assembly voting program has also been completed in three states Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. The first phase of voting for Odisha Assembly also took place today.
According to the information given by the Election Commission, voting for the fourth phase of General Elections 2024 started at 7 am today, in which about 62.84 percent voting was recorded simultaneously in 96 parliamentary constituencies till 8 pm. Voting closed at 6 pm, but a large number of voters were still in queue at the polling stations. A total of 1717 candidates are in the electoral fray in this phase.
State wise voting figures are as follows – 68.20 percent for 25 seats in Andhra Pradesh, 56.12 percent for 5 seats in Bihar, 37.53 percent for one seat in Jammu and Kashmir, 64.40 percent for 4 seats in Jharkhand, 70.45 percent for 8 seats in Madhya Pradesh. Voting percentage was 53.18 percent on 11 seats in Maharashtra, 64.23 percent on 4 seats in Odisha, 61.81 percent on 17 seats in Telangana, 58.02 percent on 13 seats in Uttar Pradesh and 76.25 percent on 8 seats in West Bengal.
Voting was 68.20 percent for Andhra Pradesh Assembly and 64.23 percent for Odisha. Apart from this, 47.88 and 58.48 percent voting took place in Secunderabad seat of Telangana and Dadraul seat of Uttar Pradesh respectively.
Voting took place today for Srinagar seat in Kashmir Valley. Amidst adequate security, voters were seen peacefully standing in queues at various polling stations in Srinagar to cast their votes. To increase voter participation, polling timings (from 7 am to 6 pm) were extended by the Commission in some assembly constituencies of 17 parliamentary constituencies of Telangana.
A polling officer died while on duty in Champapet, Telangana. The Commission has directed CEO Telangana to immediately give ex-gratia amount to the officer’s family. Voting for the next phase (Phase 5) is scheduled on May 20 for 49 Lok Sabha seats in 08 states and union territories. Voting is being conducted in seven phases. After the last two phases of voting on May 25 and June 01, the results will be declared on June 4. However, the results of two assemblies Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim will be declared only on June 02.
