The award’s genuine honourees include farmers, youth, veterans, and social workers.

At the Bharat Ratna Chaudhary Charan Singh felicitation ceremony in Meerut on Monday, RLD President Chaudhary Jayant Singh said that the real heroes of the Bharat Ratna symbol are of the farmers, youth and social workers of the country. After giving Bharat Ratna to former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, the first stop of the Prime Minister is on the soil of Meerut. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has honoured Chaudhary Charan Singh. If Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not been there, Chaudhary Charan Singh would not have received Bharat Ratna. “This is a bold decision,” Jayant said.
In Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s first election rally in Meerut in the Lok Sabha elections, RLD President Jayant Chaudhary said that Chaudhary Charan Singh has made a big contribution in nation building.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi also knows that Chaudhary Charan Singh considered Gujarat the seat of his spiritual and political lifestyle. Whatever social reform work Chaudhary Saheb did, he learned it from Swami Dayanand Saraswati and took inspiration from him. Chaudhary Saheb considered Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as his ideal. We have to carry forward the ideology and legacy of Chaudhary Saheb. He was against corruption,” he added.
Narrating the story of Chaudhary Charan Singh’s honesty, Jayant Singh said that a leader holding the highest position has a moral responsibility. “Corruption goes from top to bottom. Officers and employees may become corrupt. The day a person holding the highest position becomes corrupt, there will be no solution,” he opined.
He said that today people want to enjoy the pleasures of power even after being in jail on serious charges. Chaudhary Saheb’s honesty is remembered. Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi used to say that only 15 paise of one rupee sent from above reaches the ground, whereas today under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government’s money goes directly into the beneficiary’s account. This is an example of morality and honesty.
He said that Chaudhary Saheb was against casteism and gender discrimination. ?Meerut will play its role in giving strength to NDA. Choudhary Saheb used to contest elections from Meerut to Orissa with donations. Modi government’s slogan of crossing 400 will come true from Meerut itself,” he concluded.
