London, 7 Nov: Fugitive arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari is likely to be brought back to India as a Britain court cleared his extradition. Bhandari was accused of earning over ?4,000 million as a brokerage in international arms deals. Following charges levelled against him by the Uttar Pradesh Government, he fled to London.
UPA Government was charged with earning huge brokerage. Dubai based companies confirmed the money given to Bhandari. The CBI filed a case of money laundering and started enquiry against Bhandari.
The Indian Government requested the British Government for extradition. Based on the extradition warrant Bhandari was arrested in London on June 15, 2020. He was granted conditional bail and his passport was seized. The Westminster court allowed Bhandari?s extradition.
The CBI has also suspected Bhandari of purchasing property for Robert Wadra in London. Bhandari is also facing charges under violation of the Official Secrecy Law and saving taxes evasion.
