Shahjahanpur, 14 August: An FIR has been filed against six people, including a man who reportedly concealed his religious affiliation, for sexually exploiting a lady for almost nine years.
Circle Officer (City) Akhand Pratap Singh said Danish, a man posing as a Hindu and identifying himself as Avinash befriended the 30-year-old woman nine years ago. He invited the woman to his house and introduced her to his family one day. When the woman questioned the man about being a Muslim rather than a Hindu, he reportedly raped her in front of his sister and sister-in-law, according to Singh, who added that the crime was also videographed.
According to the FIR, the accused raped the woman for almost nine years while threatening the victim for making the video public.
According to authorities, the victim was also raped by another individual who has been recognised and people who have yet to be identified. When the woman’s family members learned of her situation, they turned to local VHP leader Rajesh Awasthi for assistance. Awasthi stated that he learned about the event on Saturday and went to the Kotwali police station with his followers.
He alleged that authorities were initially hesitant to file a FIR. However, when VHP personnel began chanting slogans, a complaint was filed at approximately 11 p.m. on Saturday, on the orders of superintendent of police, he added. According to authorities, a case has been filed against Danish, his sister and sister-in-law, and two unidentified accused under the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act, and attempts are on to apprehend them.
