LS polls 2024: BJP releases 1st list of 195 LS candidates, PM Modi to contest from Varanasi for 3rd term, party shows confidence in old faces in UP

New Delhi, March 02: Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday released the first list of 195 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. The list includes the names of 34 Union and State Ministers, two former Chief Ministers and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a press conference held at the BJP headquarters, the party’s national general secretary Vinod Tawde said that the Central Election Committee has finalized the names of candidates for 195 Lok Sabha seats in 16 states and two union territories. Prime Minister Modi will contest elections from Varanasi this time also.

The first list includes all classes and castes of the society. It includes 34 Union Ministers and Ministers of State along with two former Chief Ministers, 28 women, 47 candidates below 50, 18 Scheduled Tribe candidates and 57 candidates from Backward Classes.

Tawde said that in the first list, 51 are from Uttar Pradesh, 20 from West Bengal, 24 from Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat-15, Rajasthan-15, Kerala-12, Telangana-09, Assam-11, Jharkhand-11, Chhattisgarh-11, Delhi. Candidates were declared for -5, Jammu-2, Uttarakhand-3, Arunachal Pradesh-2, Goa-01, Tripura-01, Andaman & Nicobar-01 seat.

Names of candidates have been announced for five out of seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi. In this, Praveen Khandelwal has been made the candidate from Chandni Chowk, Manoj Tiwari from North-East Delhi, Bansuri Swaraj from New Delhi, Kamaljeet Sehrawat from West Delhi and Rambir Singh Bidhuri from South Delhi.

In UP, BJP expressed confidence in old faces, new names on lost seats

51 candidates declared including Narendra Modi from Varanasi and Rajnath Singh from Lucknow

Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday announced candidates for 195 Lok Sabha seats. Of these, candidates for 51 Lok Sabha seats from Uttar Pradesh were announced. According to the list of Lok Sabha candidates released by BJP Central Headquarters, Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh from Lucknow, Lallu Singh from Ayodhya and Hema Malini from Mathura have been made candidates again. In Uttar Pradesh, BJP has expressed trust only on old faces.

Out of 51 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, new names have been announced only for four seats. Among these, Saket Mishra from Shravasti, Ritesh Pandey from Ambedkar Nagar who has joined BJP from BSP. The names of Kripashankar Singh from Jaunpur and Om Prakash from Nagina are included.

Similarly, Pradeep Kumar from Kairana, Sanjeev Kumar Baliyan from Muzaffarnagar, Om Kumar from Nagina Surakshit, Ghanshyam Lodhi from Rampur, Parmeshwar Lal Saini from Sambhal, Kanwar Singh Tanwar from Amroha, Dr. Mahesh Sharma from Gautam Buddha Nagar, Dr. Bhola Singh from Bulandshahr, Satyapal Singh Baghel from Agra, Rajkumar Chahar from Fatehpur Sikri, Rajveer Singh Raju from Etah, Dharmendra Kashyap from Amla, Ajay Mishra Teni from Kheri, Rekha Verma from Dhaurahara, Rajesh Verma from Sitapur, Jai Prakash Rawat from Hardoi Safed and Ashok Kumar Rawat from Misrikh. Has been made the candidate.

Sakshi Maharaj from Unnao, Kaushal Kishore from Mohanlalganj, Smriti Irani from Amethi, Sangamlal Gupta from Pratapgarh, Mukesh Rajput from Farrukhabad, Dr. Ram Shankar Katheria from Etawah, Subrata Pathak from Kannauj, Devendra Singh Bhole from Akbarpur, Bhanu Pratap Verma from Jalaun. Anurag Sharma from Jhansi, Pushpendra Singh Chandel from Hamirpur, R.K. Singh Patel from Banda, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti from Fatehpur and Upendra Singh Rawat from Barabanki have been declared Lok Sabha candidates.

Apart from this, Kirtivardhan Singh from Gonda, Jagdambika Pal from Dumariyaganj, Harish Dwivedi from Basti, Praveen Nishad from Santakbirnagar, Pankaj Chaudhary from Maharajganj, Ravikishan from Gorakhpur, Vijay Kumar Dubey from Kushinagar, Neelam Sonkar from Lalganj Safed, Dinesh Lal Yadav from Azamgarh and Salempur. Ravindra Kushwaha has been given ticket and Mahendra Pandey has been given ticket from Chandauli.
