Lucknow, 20 May: Four patients have died of mucormycosis or black fungus in the last 24 hours at King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow while 23 patients have been admitted. Two patients are undergoing surgical treatment.
According to a KGMAU spokesperson, after the havoc of coronavirus disease, black fungus is now spreading rapidly across the capital. Every effort is being made by the Health Department to prevent the spread of black fungus disease.
“Talking about KGMU hospital, 23 patients have been admitted within 24 hours. Two patients have undergone surgery (surgery). So far four people have died. These include a 38-year-old female resident of Meerut, a 73-year-old male from Kanpur, a 62-year-old female from Gorakhpur and a 65-year-old woman from Faizabad. A patient is discharged after successful treatment,” he added.
